Day 24: Toll Free
Today was a travel day. My daughter and I packed up the car this afternoon to head to Cleveland, Ohio to see my dad. I was worried about the weather, expecting the dreaded trail of lake effect snow all the way from Rochester to Cleveland. Lucky for us, the trip was smooth sailing! What a beautiful evening for a drive.
Since I had to spend a good part of my day on the road anyway, I decided to scatter some kindness seeds along the way. For today's act of kindness, I made the NYS thruway toll free for a few people. Each time I pulled up to pay at a toll booth, I paid double. I asked the cashiers to save the extra money to pay for the car or two behind me in line.
The cashier at the first toll in Buffalo was so sweet. She giggled and said, "That is so nice! I have worked here for a long time and this has never happened to me before." I smiled as I pulled away from the toll booth and peeked in my rear view mirror. Today's act of kindness was definitely of the random variety. It also made the evening drive all the more lovely.
